Amir Khan – Marcos Maidana Thrilling Results

By Geno McGahee

WBA Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, 24-1, 17 KO’s, started off looking great, knocking down challenger Marcos Maidana, 29-2, 27 KO’s, in the first round with a tremendous left hook to the body. It looked over and it took several rounds for Maidana to recover and then he came on and began punishing the champion.

Khan was stunned in the 10th round and nearly out, but he weathered the storm and survived the final rounds to walk away with a close decision by scores of 114-111 (twice) and 113-112, in a very very close fight.

After his one defeat by knockout, the tough war with one of the biggest punchers in boxing has proven that he can take a punch and survive some rocky moments. Khan will most likely move on and zero in on the rest of the light welterweight division.
