Casey Anthony: CAYLEE MURDER IN DOUBT

By Geno McGahee

The Defense began bringing their experts to the stand today, starting with Chemist Michael Sigman, a former employee of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and now a professor at the University of Central Florida. He was the first scientist to take air samples from the trunk of Casey’s car, the main focus of this trial.

Sigman informed the jury that he had taken six samples. The first set of samples were so weak, and he could only detect the presence of gasoline. He did some more sophisticated tests and it turned up additional chemical compounds which are often found in cabbage, onions and spot removers. When asked if he detected human decomposition, he told the jury: “I can’t say that decomposition occurred in that car.”

The focus of this case has become the trunk of the car. The Prosecution did a great job presenting experts that placed young Caylee in that trunk. From hair to air specialists, they have stated that human decomposition occurred, but the Defense is fighting back.

Casey Anthony is being accused of first degree murder of her 2 year old daughter, Caylee. The Prosecution contends that she killed Caylee, placed the body in her trunk and dumped her body into the woods near the Anthony home. The Defense claims that Casey’s father George tried to cover up the accidental death of Caylee, but the claim is doubted by most.
