UFC 130 Major Troubles: FALLING APART

By Sean Farrell

I have just learned that UFC 130 main event rubber match between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have both been forced out of their planned title bout citing injuries in training for both fighters.

According to sources, Edgar has broken two of his ribs, while Maynard has injured his knee. The two were to trying to figure out which man deserves the title since Maynard and Edgar have met twice before, with the first bout ending in a unanimous decision in Maynard’s favor. Their second match up, which happened in January at UFC 125, was as exciting a title fight as there has ever been and was eventually ruled a controversial draw.

After taking an absolute beating in the first round and clearly/nearly being put out, Edgar rallied to fight on until the end of the five-round war.

There is no replacement bout planned, instead, the light heavyweight contest between former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill will now take main event’s place, while a heavyweight contest between another former champ in Frank Mir and Roy Nelson will be pushed into the co-main event spot.

UFC 130 is scheduled to be held this May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
