Move over Manny Pacquiao: There’s a New “PACMAN” in Town
When people speak of professional wrestling they often think of the WWE, and when you ask about high flyers they normally make reference to Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, and most recently Sin Cara. The amazing array of moves these men are capable of is something to witness if you haven’t done so, but with all the great hurracanranas, moonsaults, and other gravity defying high risk moves, there is a man that gravity seemed to forget. This man isn’t in the WWE, but he is however a member of Dragon Gate USA, his name is Benjamin Satterly but he is better known simply as PAC.
PAC isn’t the biggest man in the world, standing only 5’8 and weighing only 171 pounds. PAC has wrestled in small and large promotions all over the world and has dazzled millions of people with his move set that probably can’t even be duplicated in a videogame.
On July 5, 2010, PAC made his debut for Dragon Gate’s international expansion Dragon Gate USA, wrestling in a match where he and BxB Hulk were defeated by YAMATO and Shingo. At the following day’s tapings of the Uprising pay-per-view event, PAC and Naruki Doi defeated Jigsaw and Mike Quackenbush. On December 20, 2010, Dragon Gate USA announced that it had signed PAC to a contract that would make him a regular member of the promotion’s roster.
Which brings us to present day, PAC is something of a physics anomaly, his move set is so complex he makes any other wrestler to ever go “high risk” look elementary. His moveset consist of moves such as the Standing Corkscrew Shooting Star Press,Standing moonsault double rotation,Shooting Star senton, multiple Rana variations, and the even more perplexing handspring DDT, and the 450 and 630 degree splashes(Sometimes corkscrewed).
The 630 splash is something of legend, there may not be many stuntmen in Hollywood that could perform some of PAC’s moves even on wires. With this move, PAC performs a senton while flipping 630 degrees forward before landing, i.e. one full rotation (360 degrees) following by a somersault senton (270 degrees). A corkscrew can also be added to the move which in PAC’s case happens often. In this variation, PAC, faces away from the ring and situated on the top turnbuckle, performs a 180 turn in mid-air and then performs a 630 senton onto a lying opponent.
The Man That Gravity Forgot is something ALL must witness wrestling fan or not, one day he may be called to the WWE but I doubt it given his small stature…But who knows what the future holds, but while he is in the smaller promotions you can enjoy the man who has taken everything we ever knew about high risk and gravity defying wrestling to another dimension and the amazement has just begun as PAC is only24 years old. If you would like to see what PAC is capable of here is a Youtube video of his moveset but you must tune into Dragon Gate USA to see PAC in in-ring action which is something wrestling/Sports Entertainment has forgotten about a long long time ago.
