Wrestlemania Re-Defined: Pro Wrestling About to Change
How could anyone forget the spectacle that is Wrestlemania XXVII? I could, the mediocre card after a massive build-up, only to have the whole event flop was quite unfulfilling compared to any of the events of previous years. But that hasn’t spelled the end for wrestling purist who love the art form and not the lights and overly dramatized storylines like myself.
Enter the Dragon 2011, Dragon Gate USA’s flagship show or as I have dubbed it “the True Wrestlemania” is something long over due for the mainstream audience to view. This event is pure non stop action from start to finish, as with every other DGUSA event the promotion puts on. But what makes this event special is this, as exciting and fast paced as Dragon Gate currently is, these guys literally have another gear which is showcased once a year this event.
The greatest booker to ever book a professional wrestling event, current Dragon Gate USA Vice President Gabe Sapolsky has released an exclusive statement regarding this event and the spectacle we should all prepare for on June 5th, 2011.
Mr. Sapolsky’s statement regarding the event when I asked about his flagship show only made the wait more exciting, “Enter The Dragon 2011 is going to be a really exciting event. We are in Manhattan, New York at BB King’s, right in Times Square. It’s an incredible venue with a tremendous atmosphere. It’s always something special to be in Manhattan, especially in a building this nice, it just adds to its importance. We are putting the best singles match we can on as the main event with YAMATO vs. PAC for the DGUSA Title. YAMATO is on fire as DGUSA Champion. PAC is the most spectacular wrestler in the world. This is going to be something special.” Sapolsky stated.
“Something special” is exactly what Dragon Gate is all about, everyone back in wrestling’s “glory days” of the 90’s, praised the WCW Cruiserweight Division. The talents we witnessed then such as Rey Mysterio JR., Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, and the always exciting and legendary Jushin Liger and Ultimo Dragon grasped our attention and always left us smiling from ear to ear with joy from their impeccable matches.
Dragon Gate is all that is left to remind everyone of what wrestling was and what it should return to being. The likes of YAMATO, PAC, Ricochet, BxB Hulk (pronounced BB Hulk) and Dragon Kid keep that tradition alive with their own unique styles, all of which are SPECTACULAR! and must be seen. Until then I leave you with a phrase I am using to everyone who is close minded about pro wrestling/”Sports Entertainment” and that is simply “Open the Gate”.
