Omar Chavez Vs. Genaro Trazancos Press Conference Quotes
The son of the legend, Omar “Businessman” Chavez (25-0-1, 18 KOs) will fight in his first ten-rounder and main event on Saturday agains the experienced Genaro Trazancos (22-14-1, 13 KOs) at the Palenque Fex in Mexicali where they expect a sellout. Chavez and Trazancos faced off for the first time on Thursday at a press conference.
“I’m thrilled to have my first ten round fight and headline in a Zanfer card that will be televised internationally. I’m happy to return to Mexicali where I had my first eight-round fight and I feel great,” said Omar, who was accompanied by his father, the great Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez.
The so-called “Businessman” hopes that on Saturday fans can see the progress he made at the Wild Card gym in Hollywood under the tutelage of Freddie Roach and alongside with his brother Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
“I was inactive for five months so I dedicated myself to training. I was in Los Angeles training with the preparation of my brother and Freddy Roach who taught me something new and different, the sparring partners I had were from other places and I learned different things, all to give a good fight. It’s my first fight at ten rounds and I come to give a good fight because I hope that this year will be a good year for me,” said Omar.
Trazancos thanked Zanfer for the opportunity to face the son of legend, but said it will only be Omar and him in the ring and the best will succeed. “This fight is important because I’m facing a strong opponent and a good standard as Omar Chavez and because this fight is a challenge for both Omar and myself. I want to return to the level where I was before.”
He added that Zanfer had doubts about putting him against Omar, “because they saw that I am a serious opponent that I can beat the one Chavez who they have protect the most. This Saturday I’m defeating Omar and showing that he’s not on my level.”
