ESPN2 FNF HITS TAMPA
ESPN Friday Night Fights returns to the popular A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, FL for the first time since March 2007 as Fight Night Productions and Warriors Boxing present the second installment of the “Winghouse Fight Night” series.
The main event will feature Cuban sensation and jr middleweight contender Yudel Johnson (10-0, 7 KOs) against the hard-hitting Jose Miguel Torres (24-4, 19 KOs) from Columbia in a ten round bout. Johnson – currently the #10 ranked contender by the WBC – is best known for winning the silver medal in the jr welterweight division in the 2004 Olympic Games.
The co-main event will feature Tyrese Hendrix (20-2-1, 9 KOs) from Gainesville, GA battling Walter Estrada (38-14-1, 25 KOs) in a eight-round jr welterweight contest. Hendrix is one of Georgia’s top prospects. Estrada proved his toughness when he upset former lightweight champion Nate Campbell back in November 2010.
Featured on the undercard are numerous local fan favorites including jr welterweight Joseph Fernandez (1-0-1) from Arcadia, FL; jr middleweight Manny Woods (6-1, 3 KOs) from Tampa; and Florida State featherweight champion Charlie Serrano (11-2, 2 KOs) from Tampa.
