UFC President Dana White has announced the main event as UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre facing off against Strikeforce Welterweight champion Nick Diaz in the “MUST SEE Superfight of 2011.” The event will take place October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Diaz was going to switch to boxing and face Jeff Lacey this year, but has decided against it for the biggest fight in the history of 170 pound fighters. This all goes back to my point of I told you so, stick with me and you will be right most of the time…St. Pierre vs. Shields was nothing more than a standup check for Diaz, hence why Shields never tried to get the fight to the ground in his element. The teammates were “bucking the system” so to speak and now they have a plan to approach this fight.
Regardless of anything else this is a fight for ALL fight fans, GSP and Diaz will showcase World Class Boxing as well as their own signature styles they bring to the table and this one should be nothing sort of the word EPIC!
