Billy Bob Thornton Speaks: DAUGHTER CONVICTED OF MANSLAUGHTER

The estranged daughter of actor Billy Bob Thornton has been found guilty of manslaughter involving a 1 year old child. Amanda Brumfield, 32, was convicted of aggravated manslaughter Friday and will be likely sentenced in July.
Brumfield avoided the more serious charge of first degree murder in the death of her best friend’s daughter. It happened in October 2008, when Brumfield was babysitting. She would claim that the toddler hit her head while trying to climb out of her playpen, but that she seemed normal afterwards. Brumfield would contend that she took a nap and woke up and the child’s body was limp.
The prosecution proved to the jury that the injury could not have happened the way that Brumfield contended. Her father, Billy Bob Thornton, did not have any contact with his daughter, but did express his condolences to the family of the dead child.
