Casey Anthony: WHY WE CAN’T TURN AWAY

There are cases that capture the imagination of the public and the Casey Anthony murder case is certainly one of them. Each case strikes a nerve with the public. The OJ Simpson trial became big news because of his celebrity status and the argument over race.
When the Menendez brothers killed their parents, the public were glued to the screen, wondering just how these two kids that had the world in their hands could do what they did. They, of course, played the molestation card, and did quite well in the acting department.
The Casey Anthony trial has it all. It is getting huge attention across the board from every sort of publication and the people love it. RSR explores the reasons why Casey Anthony has taken the public by storm:
#1: The Murder of a Child
It’s hard to imagine as a parent how somebody can kill a child. You look inward and ask yourself what could prompt a parent to do such a thing. You become curious and that curiosity has brought you to Anthony. What possible excuse could she have for doing such a thing? How can a person be so cold?
#2: Family Dysfunction
Since the beginning of the incident, the family has had an inner war. The parents, George and Cindy have supported Casey, but have also fought to find young Caylee, hoping for the best. The Anthony family is a car accident. You can’t help but to look.
#3: Hot Chick
Not too many people think of attractive women as potential killers, especially the killers of children. Casey Anthony is a very attractive woman and her crime is so out of the perceived norm, that we have been drawn.
#4: Molestation Claims
Molestation is a popular topic. The Catholic priests tend to dominate this news, but Casey’s accusations against both her father George and her brother Lee have turned some heads. Either they are molesters (which don’t seem likely) or they are more victims linked to Casey Anthony.
#5: Lies, Lies, and more Lies
What will she come up with next? Casey Anthony said she worked for Universal Orlando, had a child kidnapped by her nanny, spoke to Caylee the day before she was reported missing, accused her family of mistreatment, forged checks, and the list goes on and on. She is a train wreck and never fails to earn the interest of the public.
We are a curious sort. We have the tendency as people to compare ourselves to those on trial. What is in them that is not inside of us? This is a study of human nature and when somebody kills a helpless child without remorse and is willing to throw her entire family under the bus, we watch and wonder how can a person like this exist? We won’t have that answer, but watching the trial progress and the Casey Anthony story develop further is good entertainment for the demanding audience.
