James Kirkland Match Announced
Middleweight contender James Kirkland (27-1, 24 KOs) will return to the ring in his home state of Texas on Friday and is determined to make a statement against Dennis Sharpe Jr. (17-7-3, 4 KOs) in their eight-rounder at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. Kirkland was brutally stopped in April by Japan’s Nobuhiro Ishida, a result which stunned the boxing world and the 27-year-old KO Artist is now ready to return to the win column. Sharpe should be accommodating as he has lost seven in a row.
In the eight round televised main event, which headlines TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo” telecast, middleweight contender Brian Vera (18-5, 11 KOs) squares off against Eloy Suarez (11-11-1, 5 KOs). The televised co-main event will see unbeaten power puncher Joseph Elegele (12-0, 10 KOs) risk his unbeaten record in an eight round welterweight bout against Noel Rodriguez (14-2, 5 KOs).
