Wladimir Klitschko Title Loss: Alexander Povetkin Vs Ruslan Chagaev for WBA Heavyweight Title: BOXING BREAKING NEWS
It is confirmed. Wladimir Klitschko will be considered “Super Champion,” and the WBA will now create the “regular” champion, and pit former WBA Title holder, Ruslan Chagaev, 27-1-1, 17 KO’s, against Alexander Povetkin, 21-0, 15 KO’s, the Teddy Atlas trained heavyweight.
The fight will take place in August. Chagaev’s only defeat was to Wladimir Klitschko and he holds a victory over former 2-Time Champion, Nikolay Valuev. Various medical issues have hurt his career, but he has stayed in the mix and has the opportunity to pick up the title again. Povetkin was pulled out of a title shot against Wlad because he wasn’t ready for it in the eyes of his trainer and now can pick up a title against a much less dangerous fighter.
Povetkin is a heavyweight to watch and has been consistently improving and with Atlas in his corner, he could pose a threat to the Klitschko rule.
