WATCH Tyson Fury Vs Dereck Chisora LIVE NOW!

By Geno McGahee

Heavyweight action in the UK goes down today as Tyson Fury, 14-0, 10 KO’s, takes on Dereck Chisora, 14-0, 9 KO’s, for the British Heavyweight Title and right to face Wladimir Klitschko for the unified title.

Chisora has twice been signed to face Wladimir, and both times, the fight was canceled when David Haye showed interest in facing “Dr. Steelhammer.” This on again/off again heavyweight title fight has hurt the career of Chisora, who has been inactive for nearly a year.

With wins over former title challenger Danny Williams (KO-2) and contender Sam Sexton (KO-9), Chisora has faced the stiffer opposition, but his time off and demeanor going into this fight with Fury is concerning. He mentioned that he wasn’t in the shape he wanted to be and didn’t seem interested in the fight. Fury on the other hand, is more focused then he’s ever been it seems, and this may be the man with the more ambition will win.

Tyson Fury has made a career of beating up no-hopers, and despite his outstanding name, he has not lived up to it. Chisora is a gigantic leap in quality of opposition, but he seems very focused, very ready to take that step. Fury, despite the huge amount of criticism he receives, has been improving fight by fight. Proof of this would be his two bouts with John McDermott. The first fight was a controversial win for Fury. He would dominate and stop McDermott in the rematch.

Chisora is going into this fight, making far less money then he would have made facing Wladimir, and is coming off a long layoff. He doesn’t seem focused and by his own admission, isn’t in ideal shape. He has opened up the door for Fury to win, but Fury is still untested and he may be exposed even if Chisora is not in the best of shape and not incredibly motivated.

It is an interesting fight that can be seen today on PPV.
