Warren Jeffs: STRANGE DEMANDS – SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE BEGINS

Church leader Warren Jeffs informed a Texas judge this morning that he wants to fire his attorneys and represent himself at trial. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child.

“I have released all my counsel, said Jeffs. “I desire to represent myself.”

Jeffs spoke for about 20 minutes today, rambling at times. He noted that his lawyers could not represent his “true defense.”

The prosecution contends that Jeffs sexually assaulted the girls and manipulated them into a “spiritual marriage.” The Defense is claiming that his religious freedoms were compromised.

Jeffs is the head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the girls he is accused of sexually assaulting are the ages 17 and 12. If he is convicted, he could go to prison for life.
