WWE: How to Save Wrestling

In our first part of this two part series we discussed all the problems wrestling has in detail and now we discuss solutions to helping the industry.

One WWE world title

With having two champions on two shows, the WWE needs to remove one. That way there is no confusion as to who the best is. Another thing…always make the championship match a main event. Do not open the telecast with a title shot.

Place emphasis on wrestling and not on physical appearance

Too many wrestlers that are either big: Great Khali, Sheamus, Big Show, and John Cena have been given pushes when more talented wrestlers such as John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler are stealing the show with their wrestling skills.

Have John Cena and Randy Orton become Heels

There is no denying that Randy Orton is the more talented wrestler but I feel he is a great heel. In the past where he would assault legends and get heat for it really helped make him a great bad guy, but since then, has been a fan favorite.

Although now his feud with Christian makes no sense having two heels feud, but I think in this case the feud would be even better if Orton turned up the nastiness as well as Christian. John Cena is in no man’s land…he is popular with kids and hated by adults. He has always been stale as a performer but I think a mean streak will serve him well and he might get some adult fans if he decides to turn heel and say whatever he wants. He could start by attacking CM punk and putting him in a hospital. The next week he can talk about how he is not getting any respect and criticize all the fans. The hate factor would go through the rough.

Have one champion (either US or IC)

There are many titles with two tag team titles, one us champion, one intercontinental champion, one world champion, and one WWE title. Just keep the world, one tag team, one intercontinental title. I would think about adding a cruiserweight title again.

Make CM Punk feud with HHH

HHH could talk about how Punk sold out the WWE and create a storyline where he aids John Cena in defeating CM Punk. Talk about how Cena is a company man. That would create a whole set of new feuds as HHH could get others to attack him. It could be like the stone cold McMahon feud of the 90s.

Develop the talent properly

Aside from Wade Barrett, none of the young talent has mic skills and without those skills you can’t sell a fight. I would have Morrison and Ziggler work on their mic skills while doing that make the type of matches fans love with TLC matches…ladder match…60 minute Iron man match.

Use those for your championship match and you will restore credibility to wrestling. When making those matches, have the talented wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, Ziggler, Morrison, Sin Cara in a TLC match. That would be explosive. By having them have mic skills and building up feuds with storylines the WWE will have something to build on. The same can be said for the women’s division. Give it the respect it deserves by having them in those type of matches and I think the woman will surprise you instead of these 6 woman tag team matches.
