Police brutality is a common thing and we see yet another example of the nonsense that goes on in the death of Kelly Thomas, a homeless man that was sitting on a bench when he was approached by the police, responding to reports that cars were being burglarized in the area.
Thomas ran, but was subdued and then beaten brutally, pounded in the face and tazing him six times. The head and neck injuries resulted in his death, five days after the incident. The six police officers have been suspended.
Kelly’s father, Ron Thomas, has been pushing the cause, protesting and holding vigils, bringing attention to this matter. He plans to sue the police and let’s hope that he does and that the officers involved that are here to “protect and serve” are held accountable for their actions. I think with the public outcry, they will be held accountable.
