Boxing News: Paul McCloskey – Breidis Prescott STUNNING FIGHT RESULT
In a WBA light welterweight elimination match, Irishman Paul McCloskey (23-1, 12 KOs) overcame a big early deficit to win a razor thin twelve round unanimous decision over Colombian slugger Breidis Prescott (24-3, 19 KOs) on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Prescott was credited with a knockdown in round one when a forearm put McCloskey on the deck. McCloskey’s nose was streaming blood by round two. Prescott staggered McCloskey in round six. But, from round eight, McCloskey began to outwork a tiring Prescott and was much fresher over the final five rounds. Scores were 114-113, 115-113, 114-113. With the win, McCloskey earned a fight with WBA champ Marcos Maidana.
