Breaking Boxing News: Marco Huck Happy about Win
“It was a tough fight,” said WBO light heavyweight champion Marco Huck (34-1, 25 KOs) after breaking down and knocking out Rogelio Rossi with a big right to the head in the sixth round on Saturday night in Ludwigsburg, Germany. “I had twelve rounds to break him down and I needed six. I’m happy with the victory.”
Rossi was down four times in the fight, plus one additional knockdown after a shot coming after the bell in round four, for which Huck was deducted two points. “In the heat of the moment I didn’t hear the bell,” Huck explained. Rossi was down and out for several minutes after the particularly brutal knockout, causing some tense moments. “I couldn’t enjoy the victory until I knew he was fine,” Huck said. “He went down hard and I was relieved when he got back up.”
As for the future? “I am just 26 years old and I have already defended my title eight times,” Huck said. “I am explosive and powerful and I hope to get a unification fight soon.”
Promoter Kalle Sauerland added, “The fans love Marco’s style. He is exciting to watch. And he is so young. We will now look at the options for his next fight. Whoever enters the ring against Marco will have big problems to deal with his impressive power.”
