James Kirkland, 30-1, 27 KO’s, found redemption with a sixth round stoppage of Alfredo Angulo, 20-2-1, 17 KO’s. In the first round, Angulo landed a right hand that dropped Kirkland in the first thirty seconds. He would follow up with a brutal attack but would punch himself out and Kirkland would rebound and turn the tables.

Kirkland gave Angulo a vicious beating, returning the favor in the first round by knocking the Mexican warrior to the floor, and following up with a systematic beat down. Angulo showed all the heart in the world, but he couldn’t compete with the speed and incoming punches of an inspired and focused Kirkland. The fight was waved off in the sixth when a barrage of punches hurt Angulo badly.

It was a great fight and a great moment for Kirkland.
