Wladimir Klitschko – Jean Marc Mormeck BOXING RESULTS

By Geno McGahee

Wladimir Klitschko,57-3, 50 KO’s, didn’t really have an opponent in Jean Marc Mormeck, 36-5, 22 KO’s, stopping him in the 4th round to retain the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO titles. Mormeck would not throw a punch. He got close but didn’t do anything. In the first round, he threw 2 punches…and that trend continued. From the expression on Mormeck’s face in his corner prior to the opening bell, the fight was decided. He did not want to be there.

Klitschko used his jab and kept pushing Mormeck away and was never touched. The 100-1 odds that were in place in certain casinos was right on the money, but the fact that Mormeck never even tried to do anything aggressive was disappointing and meaningless. There are so many other heavyweights that would have taken this fight and tried. Mormeck didn’t belong in the ring. He is and never was a heavyweight and hopefully this will be the end of his run in this division.

Mormeck was dropped in round two from a right hand. Wlad landed a combination to put him down in the fourth and Mormeck waited for the count of 10 before getting up. He wanted none of the champion. Wladimir can now move on to a real fight.
