Floyd Mayweather JR SUPPORTS GAY MARRIAGE – Manny Pacquiao Losing Public Appeal

By Geno McGahee

Floyd Mayweather, JR., 43-0, 26 KO’s, has come forward via Twitter, and made the statement: “I stand behind President Obama & support gay marriage. I’m an American citizen & I believe people should live their life the way they want.” It is an answer to Manny Pacquiao’s homophobic comments where he called for the death of homosexuals and openly disagreed with gay marriage.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have been at war publicly for years and the fight that everyone wants to see has not happened yet and most likely will not happen. Floyd was raked over the coals for insensitive comments he made about the Asian community. He came forward and apologized. Pacquiao has apologized but there seems to be plenty of twisting of his arm at this point. He stands to lose a fortune with a possible loss of a Nike deal. Pacquiao can talk all God he wants, but money rules his world and he does not want to lose this income.

As much as Mayweather has been seen as the bad guy in this conflict, there is plenty of debate. Floyd has publicly made mistakes and has acted inappropriately at times, but he has hardly claimed to be an angel. Pacquiao is seen as a near God by some, hounded by groupie journalists to sing his praise without looking at the facts that he has issues. This wasn’t the first time a major flaw has been present. Gambling and infidelity issues have arisen and there have been continual rumors of performance enhancing drugs, which is one of the reasons why Floyd has not fought him yet.

The writers are already out there typing away, supporting Pacquiao and stating how he was misquoted and misunderstood. The unfortunate truth is that Pacquiao is an obvious homophobe, using religion to spread his hate. I’m pleased to see that some are holding him to his comments.
