Gennady Golovkin Vs Gabriel Rosado: BOXING BREAKDOWN – Saturday Night HBO Showdown

By Geno McGahee

Saturday night, the WBA and IBO middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin, 24-0, 21 KO’s, will try to retain his titles as he takes on the optimistic challenger, Gabriel Rosado, 21-5, 13 KO’s, which will be shown on HBO.

Golovkin has been a terror in the ring, pulverizing his opponents with regularity and taking out some very good fighters along the way. American audiences were introduced to him last September, when he dismantled and destroyed Grzegorz Proksa in five rounds. If you look at the collective records and reputations of his opponents, it’s very impressive that he has done so well. He is a big puncher with plenty of confidence.

Trying to fend off the aggressive and powerful champion is Rosado. The fight that can be pointed to the most would be his fight against Alfredo Angulo, a powerful fighter that is aggressive. The fight ended with Rosado out in two rounds. This has to be what the Golovkin team is planning, but you cannot totally dismiss the challenger.

Of late, Rosado has done very well. He has knocked out five of his last six opponents, including Sechew Powell and Jesus Soto Karass. He cannot be underestimated going into this fight because he is a live underdog. He will come to fight and give his all and if he can avoid the incoming, we may have an upset.

This is a very interesting fight that should be explosive. This is one to watch.
