Sugar Shane Mosley Vs Paulie Malignaggi DONE DEAL – Boxing News

On April 27th, the WBA has allowed their welterweight champion, Paulie Malignaggi, 32-4, 7 KO’s, to defend against the out of retirement, Shane Mosley, 46-8-1, 39 KO’s.

Malignaggi had hoped for a rematch with Ricky Hatton, but as quickly as Hatton came out of retirement, he was beaten right back into it. So, if he can’t dust off one has-been, he needs to find another.

Mosley was easily one of the best fighters to ever lace up the gloves, especially at lightweight, but he’s 41 years old and he is an old fighter. He’s got plenty of heart and power but he cannot pull the trigger.

Shane has lost three of his last four fights and he has taken beatings in all three. Malignaggi isn’t a puncher, so this should be a safe fight for the old man, but there is no way that he deserves a title shot. Sugar Shane is 0-3-1 in his last four fights. He has not won a fight since 2009, but this is boxing and anything goes, including sanctioning this fight.
