Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Chris Jericho & More: WWE NEWS & RAW REPORT

By Dani Mitchell

Elimination Chamber excitement is building! The return of superstars has the anticipation of the pay per view building.

We have seen the return of Jericho and Brock Lesnar which has been surprising enough, but last week on Smackdown we had the return of Jack Swagger. He returned on a mission, he wants his spot that he feels he has earned for elimination chamber. Last night on Raw he had a match against Santino. He is supposed to be the New Jack Swagger with a strong, powerful attitude… but I am skeptical. If the WWE really is going to push swagger, they better get him a bigger, better opponent before elimination chamber! Also, there was a change in his submission move… his ankle lock will now be known as “The Patriot Act”.

Another huge return last night was the World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry. It’s been a long time since we have seen this athlete. He made a splash last night coming out after Daniel Bryan scored a win via pin fall against Mysterio. Henry attacked Bryan then headed to the ring to attack Mysterio who was still lying on the mat after the loss. Mysterio’s buddy and tag team partner Sin Cara came out to the ring trying to defeat the big man but had no success. Mark Henry shouted “This is what i do!” while leaving a trail of carnage behind him. Looks like someone else wants his chance at the PPV.

Here’s a story for you, there once was a tremendous athlete that had us in awe over his strength. He was able to lift huge men up and slam them down with such power. Recently he has been reduced to a mid-carder without a second thought. That man is Antonio Cesaro. What is the WWE doing to him, last night he faced Ryback. Ryback? Really? Why would they sacrifice this man? Needless to say it was a pretty short match, At one point Cesaro ran into the ring hoping for a count out. The very powerful Antonio Cesaro hoping for a count out!? Ridiculous. Hopefully, they have bigger plans for him.

Cody Rhodes was defeated by Alberto Del Rio when he applied the cross arm breaker. Alberto Del Rio then got on the mic and apologized for being such a bad guy for such a long time. Yes Alberto, we get it…. you are a face. Big Show then is shown via satellite and says he wants a rematch. Uh, last time I checked Last Man Standing matches are normally the end of a feud… and it definitely should have been the case. Big Show and Del Rio need some new material.

Kane had a match with Sheamus. Like we didn’t know who was being put over in this match. I kind of already had a feeling of how things were going to go down. Daniel Bryan being upset that Kane didn’t come to the rescue when Henry resurfaced, he ran down to the ring to complain and distract Kane. Kane being distracted didn’t see the Brogue Kick coming, causing Kane to lose. Daniel Bryan slyly smirked while apologizing. Team Hell No is on its last leg I believe.

Paul Heyman was a guest on MizTv. He was there to clear his good name. He swears up and down he had no idea about Brock Lesnar being back. Then he was a surprise, Vickie comes out and says that Paul is innocent, she is the one that brought Lesnar back and had him sign a contract. I think this is going to be the downfall of Vickie as GM. Anyways, The Miz continues to rant about things, then Lesnar comes down to the ring. Instead of running away the Miz attacks Lesnar. It was like watching a kid run into a sliding glass door. He just kind of bounced off before being thrown out of the ring and then given an F-5. Lesnar is back in full force, Kind of disappointed we heard nothing from Triple H or anyone on the matter, I guess they are building the suspense.

Randy Orton had another match against Barrett. There are so many different storylines could throw Orton in and I just don’t think starting a feud with a Barrett is a very good move. I really like watch Barrett but last night in match against Orton there seemed to be very little crowd reaction. I just think the crowd is waiting to see the two of them doing something great. Like Orton taking on the Shield, or Barrett finally getting revenge on NXT rookie Bo Dallas. Orton won again, nice to see him winning and getting a little bit of a push, but let’s see him step it up, give him a challenging role.

Finally match of the night! Jericho vs. CM Punk. What a high quality match this was. Honestly I swear this could have better than some of the recent PPV matches. What chemistry between the two athletes. They went back and forth. Jericho would have a lionsault countered, punk would miss a flying elbow.. back and forth… At one point Punk had Jericho in the anaconda vise, but Jericho drug himself and punk over to the ropes, then he locked in the walls of Jericho on Punk, and Punk uses incredible strength to pull himself over to the ropes. It was an incredibly even match. You really didn’t know which way it was going to go, but finally Punk hits a GTS and pins Jericho. Man, it was intense and a fun match to watch. I would love to see more of that.

After watching Punk vs. Jericho, I don’t know how anyone could complain about the absence of the Rock. And oh yeah, Where was Ziggler?

Until next time kiddies. Keep Calm and Drop an Elbow.
