Frans Botha SCREWED: Sonny Boy Williams Edges White Buffalo – BOXING NEWS

One of the most underrated heavyweights in recent history, Frans “White Buffalo” Botha, 48-9-3, 29 KO’s, was on the wrong end of a ten round decision, losing to rugby star, Sonny Boy Williams, 6-0, 3 KO’s, by scores of 97-91 (twice) and 98-94. In the tenth round, it seemed that Botha had Williams right where he wanted him and the last two rounds would be his time to get the stoppage, but then the unexpected happened. The bout was over. A 12 round fight turned into a 10 round bout and we had an upset victory for Williams.

Botha has demanded an investigation, but this is boxing. This is why people hate the sport. How often do we see something that’s fair when it comes to boxing? With four of his last five bouts being defeats and being 44 years old, the run as a force in the heavyweight division for Botha is long gone. This is about principle and he should have had the last six minutes to try to win this fight.

Stay tuned…this will probably end in a rematch rather than any change of decision.
