RSR Boxing Results: Vitali Klitschko Knocks Out Albert Sosnowski
WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko, 40-2, 38 KO’s, successfully defended his heavyweight title against challenger Albert Sosnowski, 45-3-1, 27 KO’s, with a tenth round stoppage. Both men were in tremendous shape and motivated, but Sosnowski faced the same problem that all Klitschko opponents face. He had to get inside of the Klitschko reach and he did at times, but he wasn’t able to remain close for a long enough period of time to take the title.
Klitschko followed his typical fight plan, boxing cautiously early and then pecking away until the opponent falls. Sosnowski tired late in the fight and the right hands began to take a toll, buckling him in the tenth and then sending him sprawling into the corner, forcing the referee to immediately wave it off.
The courage of the challenger was on full display but he didn’t have the skills to overcome the height, reach, and experience advantages of the champion. Vitali can now look forward to a showdown with David Haye, Nikolay Valuev, or Odlanier Solis.
