Kimbo Slice, Bill Goldberg, UFC & More: The Return of “Tank” Abbott – MMA NEWS

April 2nd, 2013 Geno

David “Tank” Abbott, one of the most brutally-fierce Mixed Martial Arts fighters ever to walk into the cage, is storming out of retirement and wading into the King of the Cage “Fighting Legends” when he takes on Ruben “Warpath” Villareal on MAVTV American Real Network on Saturday night, April 13th, at 7:00 pm PT / 10:00 pm ET.

According to Mike Low, King of the Cage Live Event Manager, tickets for the event are almost gone. Expectations are for a complete sell-out crowd of jam-packed Mixed Martial Arts fight fans, and those roaring fans will get more than their money’s worth of hard-hitting action. “Tank Abbott packed them in when he fought before, and mention of his name is promising to pack them in now,” said Low. “This is going to be one fight the true, hard-core fans will not want to miss; this will be one they’ll remember and talk about for a long time and be able to say ‘I was there the night Tank Abbott got it on with Warpath Villareal.'”

The legendary Abbott, who packs 255 pounds of mayhem onto his six-foot frame, has 24 MMA fights and all of them were blood fests. The six-foot, four-inch Villareal, from Sacramento, California, is listed at 205 pounds and has 48 MMA bouts, winning 20. This no-quarter-asked-or-given KOTC match will burst into banging, bruising action before what will surely be a wildly enthusiastic sold-out crowd at the popular Gold Country Casino in Oroville, California.

Abbott developed his style, which he calls “Pit Fighting,” in the bar brawls and street fights of his hometown of Huntington Beach, California. He has written about the bar-brawling life in a trilogy of novels, the first of which, Befor There Were Rules, tells the incredible story of Abbott and his buddies, hanging out in bars and taking on any and all comers, and where he had over 200 street fights before exploding into the world of Mixed Martial Arts at the 1995 Clash of the Titans. In that bombastic debut he knocked out 400-pound John Matua in 18 seconds and then fought Oleg Taktarov in a bout that left both men collapsed in exhaustion and with Taktarov having to be carried out of the cage. On that night, the MMA world learned that Abbott doesn’t take prisoners.

The co-main event promises to be no less ferocious and will be for the KOTC Championship for Light Heavyweights, with a 205-pound limit. It will feature KOTC fan favorite Trevor Prangley going against Dan Molina in a slug-fest of five brutal rounds of five minutes each. Langley, at six-feet, one-inch and born in South Africa, now hails from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has an outstanding MMA record of 27-9-0 and is coming off a victory in his last KOTC outing. Molina, from Roseville, California, has a hard-earned record of 11-8-0 and will certainly give Prangley everything he’s got in what promises to be a fight-to-the-finish for the Championship title.

Other all-out fights on the action-filled card include Beau Hamilton going up against Daniel Price at 155 pounds, Tony Juarez against Aaron Hendrick at 170 pounds, Eloy Garza and Marcus Ocegueda at 135 poun ds, and Ryan Williams against Joe Lucas at 205 pounds. The evening also includes the slam-bang King of the Cage Amateur Middleweight Title, with 10 tough amateurs tearing at each other in a variety of weight classes.

Those hard-core fight fans lucky enough to get seats to the jam-packed event will witness the ultimate in Mixed Martial Arts fighting and be part of a night they won’t soon forget.
The awesome, pounding action will be delivered to audiences on MAVTV American Real Network, which brings programming that focuses on the adventures of real Americans, with real American life stories, told in ways that are unapologetically red, white and blue.
