Carl “The Cobra” Froch, 31-2, 22 KO’s, used his reach and ambition to keep Mikkel Kessler, 46-3, 35 KO’s, in check and cruise to a unanimous decision by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113.
From the opening bell, Froch attempted to impose his strength on Kessler and was able to accomplish that. Most of the fight, Kessler was apprehensive and took some punishment for it. Midway through the fight, it was pretty obvious that Kessler would need something dramatic to pull this out and he almost got it in the 11th round with a right hand that stunned Froch, but he rebounded in the 12th and nearly stopped Kessler. Had there been one more round, Kessler would have probably been stopped.
Froch has avenged one defeat and now will eye another chance at Andre Ward.
