RSR Message Board Update
By Mike “Rubber Warrior” Plunkett
Last week was a spectacular week for the sport of boxing. It marked the return of New York’s Yankee Stadium as a spectacular venue for big ticket prizefighting well as the reemergence of Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto, one of the most respected and beloved fighters of the last decade. “Miguel Cotto – Rumors of his Demise are Premature” is a thread that addresses the rejuvenated career of the three-division champion while quietly backhanding the previously held train of thought that “Junito” was a spent force and ambling towards pasture. And speaking of pasture, “Sugar Shane Mosley – Where Does He Go from Here” looks back at the charismatic Californian’s recent career setback, suggesting that the loss to future all-timer Floyd “Money” Mayweather should be put into proper perspective, and that there may yet be more to accomplish before calling it a day.
I’d like to bring your attention to a new thread about WBA heavyweight champion David Haye but unfortunately there’s nothing new to be discussed given his latest vanishing act and his well advertised need to take the rest of the year off, so instead I’ll point you to a thread on the real heavyweight champion of the world. “Ring Magazine – Wladimir Klitschko Interview” delves into one of the most honest and insightful interviews I’ve read in recent years. It’s an interview that all boxing fans should read, worthy of discussion given the current dominance the younger Klitschko has over the heavyweight division and the general level of low regard North American fans have towards him. It’s all here and its ready for your two cents and it can all be found in our Boxing Discussions forum.
