Ivan Calderon- Jesus Iribe Go Head to Head
WBO World Jr Flyweight Champion Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon and his challenger Jesus “Azul” Iribe from Mexico, both promised a victory, today during the last press conference on route to their world championship fight this Saturday night at the Theatre in Madison Square Garden in the main event of “Top Rank Live” to be telecast in the United States by Fox Sports Net and Fox Sports Espanol and on Pay-Per-View in Puerto Rico.
Ivan Calderon – 17-0-1 in world title defenses: “I don’t get easy fights anymore. Every challenger fights hard. The big honor for me is fighting at Madison Square Garden on the eve of the Puerto Rican parade.”
Jesus Irbie: “I am in top condition for a reason. I am fighting for the world title and I am expecting him to run from me. I will catch up and beat him. I will be such a big hero in Mexico.”
Steven Badgley, U.S. Army helicopter pilot: “I’ve been in bad places – like Iraq – to hunt down bad people. Going into the ring will be a pleasure.”
One other attraction on the card is the New York debut of former world amateur champion and 2008 Olympian McWilliams Arroyo of Puerto Rico, who is here with his brother and also a former Olympian McJoe Arroyo, who will not fight on the card.
McWilliams Arroyo (3-0, 3 KOs) will take on Tajashi Okada (1-0-1, 1 KO) from Japan in a four round super flyweight bout, that will be televised to Puerto Rico.
