Dereck Chisora KO’s Malik Scott: QUICK STOPPAGE IN THE UK – Boxing News

By Geno McGahee

Former title challenger, Dereck Chisora, 17-4, 11 KO’s, used pressure to break down Malik Scott, 35-1-1, 12 KO’s, eventually dropping him in round six with a grazing right hand against the ropes. Scott was aware of his surroundings and popped up to his feet at the count of nine, but the referee quickly waved it off. It should be mentioned that the referee’s count was in double speed. This referee should be looked into for his officiating of this fight and Scott has a legitimate complaint.

Chisora is always a draw for his charisma and prefight antics and this call was really a disservice to him. He was most likely going to win this fight by stoppage in a round or two as Scott began to wear down from the pressure, but the referee’s incompetence my lock him into a rematch that wouldn’t have been necessary had the fight been allowed to continue.
