Rodel Mayol Makes Title Defense Number Two
WBC light flyweight world champion Rodel Mayol is already in San Juan del Rio, Queretaro to defend his title for the second time against Omar Nino from Jalisco, Mexico. The fight will be in the local bullring and a full house is expected as well as a TV audience in Mexico and the USA. Mayol conducted a training session on Monday in his hotel. “I am more than ready,” he declared. “I prepared myself much better than the last time with Omar. I am desperate to climb on the ring and show everybody why I am the champion.”
Mayol and Niño met in February 27th and the bout ended in a draw after Mayol was leveled while complaining about a low blow. “I did not wanted that end,” stated Mayol. “I was winning the fight but the Mexican gave me an illegal punch to my body and then to the face. I was helpless. Fortunately the referee saw the punch and stuck to the rules. This saturday will confirm that I am superior and will return with the belt to the Philippines.”
