Ruslan Provodnikov KNOCKS OUT Mike Alvarado: HBO BOXING RESULTS & NEWS

By Geno McGahee

Ruslan Provodnikov, 23-2, 16 KO’s, is not a joke. After a close loss to Timothy Bradley, Provodnikov was not given the credit for the performance. Most pointed to Bradley fighting the wrong fight, but tonight, he showed he was the real deal as he battered the courageous Mike Alvarado, 34-2, 23 KO’s, into submission after ten rounds.

Alvarado used a lot of movement and was able to pot-shot the aggressive Provodnikov, but the body punches added up and Alvarado slowed down dramatically going into the later rounds. In the 8th round, Alvarado was dropped twice and barely survived. In the tenth round, the punishment just added up and Alvarado had nothing left and he decided to not come out for the 11th round on advice of his corner and the referee.

Provodnikov can now look at a Timothy Bradley rematch or the winner of Manny Pacquiao – Bradley Rios.
