James Avery DEAD: Uncle Phil from FRESH PRINCE Dies – Cause of Death – News

James Avery, 65, has died from complications from heart surgery. Avery was best known for his role in THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR with Will Smith. He played the lovable Uncle Phil, bringing comedic timing and a fun factor to the small screen.

Avery, a Vietnam vet, has also done a lot of voice work in animate features and landed three TV movies in 2013. R.I.P. James Avery.
