Danny Garcia Survives Mauricio Herrera: Robbery in Puerto Rico – SHOWTIME BOXING NEWS

By Geno McGahee

Danny Garcia, 27-0, 16 KO’s, couldn’t get his rhythm against Mauricio Herrera, 20-4, 7 KO’s, and would have lost the fight tonight had it not been held in Puerto Rico. With open scoring, Garcia knew he was going to take the fight home no matter what and Herrera didn’t have the punch to concern him, but he did bust him up.

It was an ugly fight, but when the dust settled, Herrera should have gotten the nod, but the scores were 116-112 (twice) and 114-114, giving Garcia the majority decision win. Garcia can now move on, surviving this awkward opponent, and that was the story of this fight. He couldn’t solve the puzzle, but the judges gave him the answer.
