Peter Quillin Outpoints Lukas Konecny: SHOWTIME BOXING RESULTS – BOXING NEWS

By Geno McGahee

WBO middleweight champion, Peter Quillin, 31-0, 22 KO’s, cruised to an easy decision win over the challenger, Lukas Konecny, 50-5, 23 KO’s, taking the unanimous decision by scores of 120-108 and 119-109 (twice). The story of the bout was that a good big man can beat a good little man. Konecny was game and aggressive but he could not have any impact on the champion. He landed some good left hooks and uppercuts, but the power wasn’t there. To his credit, Quillin wasn’t able to hurt him that much either.

This was just a case of Quillin being too strong and he did what he had to do. He called out the winner of Sergio Martinez-Miguel Cotto in the post-fight interview.
