Shannon Briggs KNOCKS OUT Francisco Mireles in 27 Seconds – BOXING NEWS

By Geno McGahee

Former heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs, 53-6-1, 47 KO’s, is back to his old ways, knocking out hopeless challenge of Francisco Mireles, 17-9, 5 KO’s, in just 27 seconds of the very first round. A body shot put the rotund heavyweight down and out. Briggs could be 70 years old and still pack that punch and he will unload it on any journeyman stupid enough to get into the ring with him, but what happens when we go up from Z competition to D competition?

Briggs is fighting on a good schedule like George Foreman did on his comeback. If he follows that pattern, perhaps he could make a serious run. There is plenty of mediocre heavies in the top 10 that he could beat if he could land. Whatever the case, Briggs has made it 2 in a row, both in the first round.
