Carl Froch KNOCKS OUT George Groves in 8 – HBO BOXING RESULTS

By Geno McGahee

Carl Froch, 33-2, 24 KO’s, cleared up the controversy with an eighth round knockout over the game challenger, George Groves, 19-2, 15 KO’s. Froch learned from the first fight that Groves started strong and then wore out later on. He gave away the first four rounds and kept a tight defense, avoiding the big right hand of Groves. After the fourth round, the tide had changed and Froch began working the body and opening up on the tiring challenger. In the eighth round, a left hook-right hook combination dropped Groves hard. The referee waved it off even though Groves stumbled up to his feet.

Froch showed that power in that right hand that he’s become famous for. He got rid of the thorn in his side and moves on to bigger and better things.
