WBC – WBA – IBF Summit Update, First Female Convention – Breaking Boxing News

WBA President Gilberto Mendoza has confirmed his attendance at the second meeting of the boxing organizations to be held in Playa del Carmen on September 24, 2014, joining IBF President Daryl Peoples and WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman.

“I am very happy to see the commitment and goodwill shown by all,” Mr. Mendoza said. “It is important to understand that reciprocity, mutual agreements, and future vision is very important for the collective benefit of the world of boxing. I will also stay to be present in the first female boxing convention, which is a great initiative because female boxing is very strong in many countries.”

“There are several topics which have been agreed upon and some that are still up for discussion, but the important matter is the fact that we are all willing to participate and make our own changes and adjustments in our rules and policies, to cooperate with what is best for the sport,” said Mr. Sulaiman.

Mr. Peoples added, “We believe in small, solid steps. We have some very interesting ideas and projects which are being discussed between the decision makers of the three organizations, and the IBF executive committee is all for moving forward.”

The meeting will be held on September 24 at Grand Riviera Princess Hotel, followed by the opening ceremony on September 25 of the First Female Boxing World Convention, which will feature an impressive array of topics with respected speakers, including Dr. Paul Wallace, Chairman of the WBC Medical committee, Dr. Margaret Goodman, VADA President, Dr. Beatrix Raudszus of the Germany Medical Committee, Sue Fox, and many more .

Great champions will be present and awarded, including Cecilia Braekus, Christy Martin, Mia St. John, Ana Maria Torres, Jackie Nava, Laura Serrano, and Sharon Anyos.
