Floyd Mayweather, JR. Loses, Gennady Golovkin & Andre Ward – Email Bag

Hosted by “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

Today’s bag has some jabs at me and some in agreement. That is something that is so great about boxing. We all have our opinions. Let’s get right to the bag….

“Bad” Brad,

What drugs are you on? You think Aaron Pryor stops Floyd Mayweather jr? In what universe? Floyd would box circles around him and probably stop him in ten rounds. If it goes 15 rounds like the old days, Pryor gets stopped in the 13th.

Teddy J.

Teddy J.,

The universe is this one and Aaron could not only pressure the crap out of you, he could take a huge punch. He was only stopped once in 1987, by Bobby Joe Young, but Pryor was a mess in that fight and battling drugs outside the ring.

BB,

Ok you suckered me in with the title Floyd Mayweather, JR. – Manny Pacquiao: Signed, Sealed and Coming Soon. But I have to agree, Pacquiao is shot and GGG would be a great matchup for Mayweather. I want to offer up another opponent who I think gives Floyd fits as well. Andre Ward. True, Ward would have to come down and fight him at a catch weight, but for the money Ward could make, I think he would do it. And I will go out there right now, Ward beats him by a close, but unanimous decision.

DR Boxing, BHD

DR Boxing,

Wow, I didn’t even think about Ward because I feel he is too heavy for Floyd. But yes, I do agree with you that if Ward were to see the zero’s on a paycheck he could get against Floyd, he would do it. I am not so sure it will be a unanimous decision for Ward, but I see it going either way and being a split decision, somewhere around 115-113 for the winner.

Bad Brad,

Geno McGahee a writer for RSR did a look back at Alex Stewart today on ringside. I never saw him fight but my dad was friends with him for years. He always told me Alex was underrated and had he been handled better, he would have been a heavyweight champion. Glad to see Alex is remembered as a warrior. I will pass this article on to him.

Nevin S.

Nevin,

Thanks for the email. Yes, Alex was special and I think he could compete today. Keep coming back for more tributes like these because this is why RSR is called “The Heart of Boxing”.
