Last night in front of the thousands of boxing fans that were in attendance at the OKC Downtown Airpark in Oklahoma City many former champions got badly needed wins to kick start their boxing careers again. The “Rumble on The River” promoted by Ivaylo Gotzev and his Epic Sports and Entertainment company put on a seven bout professional card that had the fans leaving the fights excited for the next boxing card to come to OKC.

In the mainevent, former WBC Welterweight & WBA Welterweight Champion Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga, 30-8-1, 24 KO’s was coming off a 3 ½ year layoff which showed in his weight being 171 LBS, but easily defeated a very scared Allen Medina, 9-24-1, 1KO by TKO in the first round. Medina was outclassed from the opening bell and could not mount any attack against Mayorga in their middleweight bout.

In the co-mainevent, former IBF Light Middleweight Champion Luis “Yory Boy” Campas, 103-17-3, 79 KO’s defeated a very game and tough Julio Ceasar Lanzas, 8-20-6, 1KO by a six round unanimous decision. Scores were as follows: 60-54 and 59-55 (twice) in their middleweight bout.

Former WBC Heavyweight Champion Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter, 35-5, 28 KO’s made his ring return, after an almost 3 1/2 year layoff from boxing, which truly showed, when he entered the ring, weighing 291 LBS. Peter’s opponent, Ron Aubrey, 12-4-1, 4 KO’s had no business in the ring with Peter and at 2:34 of round one, that point was proven when Aubrey, was TKO’ed by “The Nigerian Nightmare”.

Former season two winner of The Contender Show, Grady “Bad Boy” Brewer, 32-19, 16 KO’s faced Said Ouali, 29-5, 21 KO’s with Brewer pulling out a unanimous decision in their junior middleweight bout. Scores were as follows: 60-54, 59-54 and 58-56. RSR had it scored 58-56 for Brewer. Ouali gets the soundbyte of the evening when he came over to where RSR was sitting and to our right, there was an official who was not a judge, but Ouali thought he was when he said, “You have got to be fucking kidding me, whose the judge that had it 60-54”?

In other bouts:

Fan favorite and the fighter who got the most cheers of the night, Juan Alejandro Saucedo, 15-0, 11KO’s made short work of the shorter Miguel Alvarez, 4-12-1, 3 KO’s when he stopped him with a flurry of punches at :31 seconds of the second round, winning by TKO in the welterweight bout.

Carson Jones, 36-10-3, 26 KO’s stopped Shannon Miller, 25-53-8, 18 KO’s at 2:34 of the 3rd round with a body shot in their middleweight bout.

In the opening bout, junior middleweight Cody Crowley, 3-0, 2 KO’s defeated Anthony Hill, 1-1 by a six round unanimous decision. The scores were as follows: 60-53 and 59-54 (twice).

The Oklahoma Boxing Commissioner Joe Miller, and his team did an outstanding job throughout the entire fightcard.
