Kane def. Rey Mysterio by pinfall
Kane chokeslammed Rey Mysterio on a steel chair, and then covered him for the pinfall victory
After the match, Alberto Del Rio decimated Mysterio at ringside, “putting him out of his misery.” Mysterio is escorted to the locker room: it looks like vacation time for Mysterio

C.M. Punk w/Straight Edge Society def. by submission

After the match, C.M. Punk threatened to excommunicate any of the other three members of his Straight Edge Society if they were to lose a wrestling match; specifically, Luke Gallows was targeted in relation to his upcoming match with the Big Show tonight.

Intercontinental Championship Rematch; Title can change hands on disqualification

Kofi Kingston def. Dolph Ziggler by countout
Dolph Ziggler retains Intercontinental Championship
Kingston and Ziggler both scrambled on the outside to reenter the ring before the referee counted to 10, but Vickie Guerrero prevented Ziggler from doing so, resulting in a countout victory for Kingston. In this instance, however, the champion retains the championship.

Jack Swagger Sr. Invitational (First competitor to achieve five takedowns wins)
Jack Swagger def. MVP by disqualification
After Swagger took MVP down three times, MVP became frustrated and punched Swagger in the face. In retaliation, Swagger locked MVP in an ankle lock.

Kaval tells Laycool their picture is flawless, and then Laycool trash talks Melina

Alberto Del Rio def. Carlos Sanchez by submission

Prior to the match, Ricardo Rodriguez was introduced as Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, and then Del Rio drove his Jaguar Car to rampside. Rodriguez introduced Del Rio in Spanish as he enters the ring.
Del Rio locked in the Arm Bar Breaker on Sanchez for the victory. This is the same submission that injured Rey Mysterio’s arm last week

Big Show w/Kelly Kelly def. Luke Gallows w/Joseph Mercury & Serena by pinfall
C.M. Punk watched the match from backstage. After Gallows’ defeat, Punk didn’t look too pleased
Kelly and Serena engaged in a catfight at ringside at one point during the match
Big Show hit the Knockout Punch on Gallows for the victory

The Undertaker returns to Smackdown! to confront his brother, Kane
Undertaker reminds us all that Smackdown is still his yard, and that his holy grail, the World Heavyweight Championship, still belongs to him. Undertaker calls Kane out on spinning a web of lies out of his diseased soul.

Kane interrupts Undertaker, claiming the Undertaker is lying because he’s a shadow of his former self, and that Kane is the dominant brother now.

Undertaker rebuffs by telling Kane that he may have taught him everything he knows about the dark side, but that he hasn’t taught him everything he knows.
Kane claims that he will end up on top of the Undertaker this time, and that the Undertaker will never rest in peace.

8/30/10 Superstars Taping Results

Ted DiBiase Jr. w/Maryse def. Goldust by pinfall

Goldust always manages to put on an entertaining match, and this was no exception. An old school back-and-forth brawl, DiBiase hits the Dreamstreet on Goldust and covers him for the victory

Santino Marella w/Vladmir Kozlov def. Jimmy Uso w/Jey Uso and Tamina by pinfall

Jimmy controlled Marella most of the match, but when he went for his Samoan Splash, Marella countered so that Jimmy landed on Marella’s knees. Marella covered Jimmy for the victory

8/30/10 Live Raw Recap

Bret Hart opened the show by explaining that only he and the Undertaker were left in the WWE from the original roster on the first episode of Raw. He’s old. Then Kane interrupted his nostalgic moment by threatening to take him out, leaving only the Undertaker, whom he soon would take out as well. Kane chokes Hart, but before he can slam him down the Hart Dynasty run to the ring to save their uncle. Unfortunately, they are downed by Kane, quickly, and Kane again grabs Bret by the throat. Suddenly the bell rings and the arena lights go out, leaving the ring in total darkness. The lights come back up, and lo and behold, the Undertaker is in the ring staring down Kane, who laughs, exits the ring, and walks up the ramp.

Blinks! Cole announces an email from the anonymous GM, saying that Undertaker will face Bret Hart tonight in honor of Raw’s 900th Anniversary.

The Miz & Alex Riley def. Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty and Kaval & Daniel Bryan by pinfall

The Miz nails a Skullcrushing Finale from behind on Kaval and covers him for the victory. After the match, Daniel Bryan knocks Alex Riley off the apron, but turns around to be met with The Miz’s briefcase in the face.

Melina & Eve Torres def. Laycool by pinfall

After McCool controls the match early on, Layla tags in and is quickly rolled up and pinned by Melina for the victory. After the quick match, Laycool challenges Melina for a title unification match at Night of Champions. Melina agrees, but only if it’s a Lumberjill Match. With this, the WWE divas walk out on the ramp and get some face time. The Women’s Championship will be unified with the Diva’s Championship.

Nexus is backstage, and they explain that Skip Sheffield’s ankle is broken, and now that they’re down to five stable members people think they are weak, which Nexus denies. Barrett predicts that he will become the next WWE Champion at Night of Champions.

Chris Jericho Backstage, Josh Matthews asks Chris Jericho about any WWE memories, but Jericho cuts Matthews off and says that if he doesn’t become WWE Champion, it will be the last time we see him in the WWE. Jericho says he will prove tonight that he is the best in the world at what he does.

#1 Contendership Match

John Morrison & R-Truth vs Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre results in a no contest

The four men brawl in the ring, ignoring the referee’s request to obtain some order over the match, and the ref rings the bell and ends the match in a no contest. Morrison and R-Truth leave Rhodes and McIntyre down in the aftermath of the brawl.

Bret Hart vs. The Undertaker does not take place

Before the match even begins, Wade Barrett walks out and Barrett proclaims that the match will not be taking place tonight. Barrett threatens to end Hart and the Undertaker, but Undertaker knocks Barrett out of the ring. The bell tolls again and the lights in the arena go out. When the lights go back on, Kane is in the ring with the Undertaker, and they trade punches until Taker grabs Kane’s throat for a chokeslam, but the lights go out again, and this time Kane is gone and the rest of Nexus surround Undertaker in the ring. Undertaker fights Nexus off and grabs Barrett for a chokeslam, but the lights go out again, and when they come back on Barrett has Taker hoisted up on his shoulders, and hits him with his finisher. As Kane looks on from the stage, Justin Gabriel hits a 450 splash on Taker. Taker tries to sit back up, but cannot, and Nexus stands over Taker while Kane laughs on the stage.

Jack Swagger def. Evan Bourne by submission

Bourne misses his Air Bourne, which leads to Swagger locking the ankle lock onto Bourne. Bourne taps out, and out comes Armando Del Rio, who vows to do the same thing to little Evan Bourne as he did to Rey Mysterio last week on Smackdown! Before Del Rio can put Bourne out of his misery, however, Mark Henry runs down to the ring and saves Bourne from a potential career-threatening injury by punching the steel chair away. Del Rio walks up the ramp and smiles, and perhaps a new feud is born between Del Rio and Henry.

The Straight Edge Society has a segment in the ring where C.M. Punk denounces The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and several themes and storylines from the Attitude Era, including Katie Vick, and Triple H breaking into Randy Orton’s house. Finally, punk displays video footage of Brock Lesnar superplexing the Big Show, and breaking the Smackdown ring, in 2003. Punk explains that it happened because Big Show is criminally obese. So out comes the Big Show, who attempts a few jokes before Punk tells Show that he isn’t funny. Show calls Punk mean, and smacks him hard in the chest. Big Show empties the ring of the Straight Edge Society, who retreat up the ramp.

Sheamus played possum the whole match while Cena and Undertaker beat on each other, then Sheamus crawled out the door to pick up the victory and retain his title

After the match Kane came out and battled Undertaker to the back.

Nexus came out next and surrounded Cena in the ring, but a team of superstars ran out to help Cena rid Nexus from the cage, except for Barrett. Each superstar took turns hitting Barrett with their signature move, and they celebrated afterwards in the ring.
