The pound for pound king and “good guy” of the sport, Manny Pacquiao, is taking on Juan Manuel Marquez in a third encounter in just a few weeks, in a match that has become more highly anticipated as the time goes on. The failures of other “super bouts” to fulfill the public expectations like Mayweather-Ortiz, Hokins-Dawson, and Klitschko-Haye have put a lot of pressure on this bout to succeed.

The safe bet is Manny Pacquiao, who leads the series 1-0-1, at this point. Many come out of the woodwork to bet on sports and boxing fans will be placing some of their hard earned cash on the Pacman to win and move on to bigger and hopefully better things if and when he ever faces Floyd Mayweather, JR., in the fight that the world wants to see.

The first two bouts between Marquez and Pacquiao have been so competitive that the perceived unbeatable Pacquiao has finally got a challenger that has discovered some of the keys to victory. Marquez held him to a draw in the first fight, lost a split decision in the second, and proudly wears a tee shirt, proclaiming his belief that he defeated Manny both times. Many share this thought and it will all be settled shortly. He is the underdog without question but he has a better shot than most considering his history.

In other boxing news, WBA Regular Heavyweight Champion, Alexander Povetkin, takes on the unknown but capable Cedric Boswell, putting Evander Holyfield on ice for the time being. Boswell has been on a good streak lately and he could very well pull off the upset and shake up the division, which is not a bad thing at all. Holyfield could be the next defense for Povetkin should he defeat Boswell.
