Cornelius “K9″ Bundrage Wins IBF Belt – Boxing News

In an upset, 41-year-old former champion Cornelius “K9″ Bundrage (34-5, 19 KOs) outworked and dethroned IBF jr middleweight champion Carlos Molina (22-6-2, 6 KOs) by twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Oasis Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Bundrage went right at Molina, dropping him with a right hand in round one. In most rounds, Bundrage was busier than the lackluster champion. In round eight, Bundrage staggered Molina with a right hand, but had a point deducted for holding behind the head. Bundrage then hurt Molina again at the end of the round. Molina upped the pace in round nine and Bundrage looked gassed after the round. Bundrage, however, landed some big shots in round ten and dropped Molina for the second time. Scores were 116-109, 117-106, 115-110.

Super featherweight Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado (21-3, 14 KOs) rebounded from his loss to Rocky Juarez in May to defeat WBC International silver beltholder Juan Pablo “Largarto” Sanchez (29-12, 13 KOs) by twelve round unanimous decision. Scores were 116-112, 115-114, 115-113.
