So you read the title and lost your breathe because Floyd Mayweather is either your favorite fighter that you love or you hate his guts. It seems these days; the P4P King has no middle ground with the boxing fans and writers. His appearance on Showtime’s All Access that was aired prior to his rematch with Marcos Maidana, showed Floyd, with a group of young ladies who were firing up the Mary Jane as the late Rick James used to call it. When I first saw it, I called a few folks and said, he went too far with that one and shame on Showtime who is just as much to blame as PBF for showing that crap on TV. Floyd did what Floyd does best and didn’t take ownership of it by saying it was fake/Reality TV. Did you really think he would take full responsibility for it? If you did, than I have some swamp land in Jersey real cheap I would like to sell you.
But again, and I am already on the record saying this…. Floyd should not be banned from boxing for it and he should not be punished alone for it. Showtime is just as guilty. The debate still continues on this issue….
I can tell you this, in the days of champions like Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvelous Marvin Hagler to name just a few, you never saw this crap around them or on TV. If they did have any drug issues in their personal lives, it was not shown in the build up to a big fight where it didn’t belong.
