New Orleans Saints – There’s No Place Like the Dome

By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

For the New Orleans Saints, there’s no place like dome, the Superdome that is. After Sunday night’s thrilling victory against Green Bay, the Saints travel to NFC South rival Carolina for this week’s Thursday Night showdown.

New Orleans will be featured on prime time television for the second time this week, but which team will show up? Will it be the 44-23 victors over the Packers or the 24-23 losers to the Lions? Who will show that they are poised to take ownership of the NFC South? As strange as it sounds, the 3-4 Saints and the 3-4-1 Panthers are currently tied for first in their division. And while the Saints have an affinity for playing on their home turf, with all 3 victories coming at home, the Panthers are not necessarily as domesticated. Their record at home stands at 2-2.

Looming in a close third place in the division are the Atlanta Falcons. Their 5 game loosing streak has earned them a 2-6 record. Bringing up the rear, but not mathematically eliminated from winning the NFC South is the 1-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The division is definitely up for grabs, but no team seems to want to claim it. The teams seem to be playing “hot potato” with the division lead, with no one willing to put the gloves on and catch the potato…. or in this case, the football.
