Sammy Vasquez DESTROYS Alberto Mosquera in One Round – Boxing News

boxingringheaderUnbeaten welterweight Sammy “The Who Can Mexican” Vasquez Jr. (18-0, 13 KOs) scored an explosive first round KO against Alberto “Metralleta” Mosquera (21-3-2, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Body shots finished Mosquera at 2:35. Mosquera was down twice.

In a cross-town lightweight grudge match, local favorite “Lightning” Rod Salka (20-4, 3 KOs) won a bloody and brutal ten round unanimous decision over rival Monte Meza-Clay (36-4, 22 KOs). Both fighters went right at each other in round one. A Salka left hook opened up a bed cut over Meza-Clay’s right eye in round two. Meza-Clay was allowed to continue in round three where he was further busted up by Salka. Salka was cut over the left eye in round four. It went the full ten with Salka winning by scores of 98-92, 97-94, 99-91. Sala retains his WBC FECARBOX lightweight title.

In a junior middleweight bout, undefeated prospect Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (8-0, 6 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over very tough veteran Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez (20-6, 13 KOs). Gonzalez dropped Lubin in round one, but Lubin rebounded well and floored Gonzalez in round four. Lubin really abused Gonzalez over the last half of the fight. Scores were 78-73, 78-72, 78-72.
