Social media snafus continue to abound. This time, the New England Patriots’ twitter page is the culprit.
Celebrating a millionth follower seems innocent enough. It is indeed a monumental occasion. The problem arose from the millionth followers choice of names. “IHateN*ggers” was the moniker of the winning entry and as such, a personalized jersey and a congratulatory tweet which read “Thanks for helping us become the first NFL team with 1 million followers!” accompanied the notification. One would think that somewhere along the lines, someone would have caught this, or is this a wicked throw back to the 1940’s?
The Patriots apologized for the tweet, blaming their filtering system.
