Jenks Trojans End Owasso Rams Hopes of Championship – Oklahoma High School Football News
Approximately two months ago, a defensive battle ensued on a football field in Owasso Oklahoma that will be talked about for generations to come. That matchup between Owasso Rams and Jenks Trojans was memorable in that it was the first time that the Rams prevailed over the Trojans in over two decades. Though the victory was by one point, it was momentous for players, coaches, and fans alike, but there was something about that battle that fans knew would not hold the last word.
The Trojans had two months to stew on that one point. “What if?” “If only?” “Maybe if we?”
Those questions were very decisively answered on Friday night as Jenks prevailed over the Rams by a score of 42-14. To say that the two games were polar opposites of each other is a serious understatement, yet the second game held greater importance in the quest for a state title, as the winner of this game would eventually go on to face the winner of the Union/Mustang match in the Class 6A-1 State Championship game.
Owasso’s magical season came to an end, sadly for the Rams, an end short of its goal. Yet, the community is proud of the achievements of this season and look forward to battling for the title next year.
