Saul “Kid Dinamita” Rodriquez Returns – Boxing News

boxingringheaderUndefeated prospect from the Top Rank stable, Saul “Kid Dinamita” Rodriquez (15-0-1, 12 KOs), has been added to the TV portion of the January 17th Solo Boxeo Tecate on Unimas card at Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California. Rodriguez, a Mexican-American born in Los Angeles, trains with 2012 Trainer of the Year Robert Garcia at his Boxing Academy in Oxnard. Rodriguez has literally exploded in his last 7 bouts with highlight reel knockdowns and knockouts. Such a display of devastating power has carried Rodriguez to an 80% career knockout win rate in 16 total professional bouts. Fans who attended the April 26, 2014 Boxing By the Beach show at Oceanview Pavilion saw Rodriguez brutally knock out Miguel Zamudio (29-3-1) in the 4th round of a scheduled 8 round bout.

Rodriguez, who stopped all of his opponents within the distance in 2013 and 2014, will look to continue that streak in 2015 with another stern test in Mexico’s Carlos “Coreano” Rodriguez (9-1, 4 KOs). A native of San Buenaventura, Chihuahua, the January 17th bout will mark the U.S. debut for Carlos Rodriguez, who has been successful in every one of his professional bouts except for a loss to highly heralded Robert Manzanarez (29-1, 24KOs) for the WBC Youth Intercontinental Lightweight title last February.

Rodriguez vs. Rodriguez will be the 8 round televised co-main event at Boxing By The Beach at Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California. The 10 round main event will feature Top 10 ranked Jose “El Chon” Zepeda (21-0, 18 KOs) vs. Rafael Cobos (15-5-5, 3KOs). Boxing By The Beach will also feature some familiar names and faces to the legions of boxing fans in the Oxnard/Ventura areas as Oxnard native Abraham Lopez meets Bihal Mahasin in a 6 round welterweight affair. Also, adopted Oxnard sons, Daniel “Twtich” Franco (9-0-3, 6KOs) and Zachary “Kid Yamaka” Wohlman (8-2-1, 1KO) will appear in separate 6 round contests. Rounding out the card will be two undefeated prospects from Los Angeles, Luis Sedano and Arnold Barboza Jr..
